When I graduate in 2002 teachers will be in high demand because of the high expectancy of retirement in the next five to ten years. Mr. Shrager also let me know that although elementary teachers will be needed a person with a certificate in special education are much more in demand and are needed all over the country. Right now a person with a bachelors degree in education would make 34,000 dollars. Teachers are put on a ten step progam where with in ten years you get your masters' degree and in the tenth year you could make the maximum of 65,000 which is the maximum salary as of right now.

Mr Shrager also informed me of all the many skills and qualities needed to teach at elementary early childhood level. Such as one must obviously love children and want to be a part of their life. You need good communication skills and patience because kids some times need just like anyone a little extra time. You have to be an understanding person willing to listen and be there for your students. In some ways you have to be a guide and a motivator so that the child wants to get involved and wants to be active.
